2026 Conversations on a Bench
On October 8–9, 2026, In His Name will take a seat on the bench for 24 hours of honest conversations about the issues affecting our neighbors and our community.
Beginning at 3:00 PM on October 8, we’ll spend 24 hours talking about homelessness, hunger, mental health, addiction and recovery, community resources, and the real challenges people face every day.
Throughout the 24 hours, we’ll hear from community leaders, service providers, volunteers, people with lived experience, and others who have a story, experience, or perspective worth sharing.
This is a space to listen, learn, ask questions, and have meaningful conversations about the challenges within our community.
Community members are invited to join us on the bench for a 30-minute conversation or submit a question they’d like discussed during the event.
Want to be part of the conversation? Email us to get involved. If you’d like to sit on the bench, share your perspective, or have a question you’d like us to discuss, reach out and let us know. Please put “Conversations on a Bench” in the subject line. ihncolleton@gmail.com
Conversations on a Bench will be LIVE on Facebook beginning October 8 at 3:00 PM.
Last Years Conversations on a Bench
On October 9th–10th 2025, In His Name-Colleton joined ministries across North America for Conversations on a Bench, a 24-hour event held in honor of World Homeless Day. For a full day, our Executive Director, Amanda Herndon, sat on a simple bench outside our office listening, learning, and sharing stories that remind us what hope looks like in our community.
Throughout the day and night, neighbors, pastors, community partners, and friends stopped by to sit and talk. The conversations were real and honest about homelessness, hunger, recovery, faith, and the ways our community shows up for one another. Between interviews, there were quiet prayers, laughter, and plenty of coffee to keep the team going.
Our local livestream became a space for connection. People tuned in from home, dropped off socks and underwear, and brought food and snacks to share. Behind the scenes, our team kept things moving fielding questions online, coordinating guests, and helping Amanda stay awake as the hours went on.
We’re deeply grateful for everyone who joined, donated, prayed, or simply listened. Because of your support, we can keep meeting needs in Colleton County through hot meals, food pantry support, hygiene care, and genuine relationships that restore hope.
